Not just books

In Australia libraries have an extremely important role for expats and newcomers because they can offer not just books, but a wide range of resources and information.

Would you like to find a playgroup in your area?

What bus services are close to your home?

Are there any sporting clubs or social groups?

Are there any primary schools?

Libraries have usually a very helpful “community information directory” that can help you find the service you are looking for and organisations, events, courses, programmes, facilities available in your area.

All this informations are shared free of charge, you just need to visit your local branch library or contact them over the phone. Usually they are available also on the internet. Have a look to your library website and search for “community information”.

What about in your country? Is the library such a valuable place for an expat?

Tell us your experience.
