In 1957 Mr Raymond McLaren borrowed a book from Newcastle Library (New South Wales, Australia). This book, Knots, splices and fancy work, was a special one because it set him on the path to his multimillion dollar business.
After 53 years Mr McLaren decided to return the book to the library. The Newcastle library told him that the book was 19,350 days overdue so he had to pay $5000 in late fees.
He didn’t complain, instead he was happy to pay for a book that had such a strong impact on his life.
